Overview
Natralight were appointed to
design and manufacture a large area rooflight with additional walk on
glass units positioned in separate locations of the roof, to a
prestigious domestic property in the South of France.
The Contract was awarded to Natralight by recommendation of a London
based architectural practice, having successfully installed numerous
products of similar requirements throughout the UK with a reputable
record of producing quality rooflight products to time and ultimately within budget.
The large area rooflight with an overall size of 3000mm wide x 22000mm
long incorporates a number of large glass insulated units, neatly seated
in to our aluminium extruded framing with intermediate slim profile

Fixed flush glazed type rooflight
Due to the climatic temperature differences
to the UK, heat soaked toughening is introduced within the glass
specification to avoid thermal fracture with a low-E soft coating for
maximum reduction in heat loss. The specification of glass units is of
very high performance although fairly standard in comparison to the
minimum requirements in the UK, providing a U value of 1.1 w/m2k.
The contract also included 4No. walk on glass rooflights with a similar
specification to the large rooflight but with an increased specification
utilising a heat soaked toughened laminated outer pane to achieve a
loading of 1.5kn per square meter with a 1.4kn concentrated load.
All glass panels were bonded and weathered with glass to glass silicone
sealed joints and feature a resin black border coating to the underside
of the glass units to conceal internal finishes when viewed from above. |
