The Natralight sliding box access type rooflight is the perfect option for roof terrace access.  The box rooflight design enables your staircase handrail to continue up to the roof exit point and the fixed vertical panels provide a balustrade to the perimeter of the opening.

These roof lights are electrically operated as standard, the sliding box control system can incorporate battery backup, safety edge sensor, rain sensor, remote control and external keypad entry.

Do I Need Planning Permission for a rooftop extension?

Boxed rooflights are the best access option for a proposed rooftop extension, but do you need Planning Permission for this type of building work? Here are the documents for Planning Permission you need to be aware of - 

• Approved Document K sets out the requirements that need to be met to prevent injuries due to falls, collisions and impacts.
• Approved Document A requires combined dead, imposed and wind loads that are sustained and transmitted from the ground safely without causing any deformation to any part of the building.
• Approved Document Q covers the standards for doors and windows to resist physical attacks from burglars. This notably applies to single-storey extensions, which could include boxed rooflights.
