How rooflights will help you with the UK heatwave

Recently the entire country has undergone a heatwave, but while it has been great to get out and catch some rays some houses have suffered from poor glazing solutions.

Here at Natralight, we only supply the finest rooflights that will help you to temperature control your rooms plus flood your home with natural light.

For our latest blog, we will tell some reasons you should consider investing in roof glazing.

Keep your home cool during summer

Skylights keep your home bright during the day and offer you spectacular indoor views of the moon and stars at night. If you are looking to keep your home cool and energy-efficient, you could consider rooflight covers that block solar heat and will prevent your home from becoming too hot in the summer.

Most people choose to have skylights to conserve energy, and using covers allows you to reduce the heat of the sun without blocking its light. These covers are made from durable, thick fabrics that contain aluminium. This material in the skylight covers helps to reflect sunlight without overheating or burning the fabric. This means your home will stay comfortable, even during extremely hot weather.

Is planning permission needed for rooflight installation?

In most cases, you will be able to install rooflights under your Permitted Development (PD) rights, as long as it does not project more than 15cm from the roof slope. This is one of the reasons why our flat fixed skylights are so popular with customers all over the country.

If the rooflight extends forward of the roof plane on the elevation fronting then they are not permitted under Permitted Development.

If your home is based in a conservation area, then you could be required to install conservation skylights, but it is always best practice to check with your local authority first.
